THIS SIDE OF OUR STORY

Founded in 2016 by three UP alumni, This Side UP Casting is a Pampanga-based local manufacturer of novelty products, which began with a vision to exclusively feature the UP brands of identity.

 

For its main product, the company was granted trademark license by University of the Philippines Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UP TTBDO) to produce derivative works of the iconic Oblation, featuring statuette-replicas.

Our reproductions are sculpted faithful to form in the image of the symbolic statue, created in 1935 by Guillermo Tolentino, renowned UP alumnus and Philippine National Artist for Sculpture.

 

The Oblation statuette serves as a personalized memento, exclusive only to UP Students and Alumni, UP-accredited and affiliated Organizations. The replicas are available in fiberglass in various resin faux finishes (bronze, copper bronze, gold and marble black or white), reasonably priced in three sizes — 12,” 15″ and 21″ in height (including base), and a personalized nameplate with student details and the UP seal.

 

 

Subject to our license agreement with the UP system, portion of the sales of the Oblation statuettes entails royalty fees payable to the university. The merchandise may include names, images, symbols, emblems, designs, logos and other marks of UP — with one or more as part of product design, marketing material and advertising campaign.

 

Brand recognition, artistic skill and creativity, innovation, leadership and promotion in line with #tatakUP are considered the core competencies of the company; and are represented by its founding workforce who sought to give distinction to their beloved alma mater #upnamingmahal.

We aim to reach #UP across generations – alumni, students and affiliate organizations – for the Iskolar ng Bayan deserves a personalized memento that exudes the UP ideals of honor, excellence and service to our nation.

  1. Since we are based in Angeles City, we charge an additional P500.00 (sizes 12″ & 15″) and P700 (size 21″) for domestic shipping & handling (anywhere in the Philippines), except for meet-up / store pick-up by appointment

Shipped Items:

In the event that a product reaches you with damages incurred during shipment, we will promptly send you a replacement with the same specifications as originally ordered.

Meet-Up Clients:
Statuettes that remain unclaimed after 60 days from the payment date will be deemed forfeited and non-refundable.
 

 

Note: Your Oblation replica is a licensed derivative work of the original statue created in 1935 by Guillermo Tolentino. As such, our shipping-and-handling conforms to packaging standards required for sculptures in transit, to ensure that your statuette is damage-free before it reaches your preferred destination.
HANDLE WITH CARE
All statuettes are made with high quality resin materials, ensuring durability to last a lifetime.
Although our products have undergone crash tests, they are not considered totally free from breakage, impervious to pressure or impact upon contact with any solid material on all sides.
 
Maintenance:
 
Caution: Luster may fade after a while. DO NOT POLISH.
These are not made of wood, metal or stone. All statuettes are made of fibeglass in faux finishes – coated in simulated textures of such materials. Do not use any cleaning agent or any wiping cloth. Gently clean surface using a light dusting brush.

  • We welcome partnerships with UP-accredited and affiliated organizations, sororities and fraternities (either student or alumni groups).
  • Commissions are given to partners equivalent to 5% of the total sales.

Membership Verification for Statuettes with Seals (For INDIVIDUAL and GROUP Orders)
  • Though we cannot altogether verify that all who ordered statuettes with seals of UP orgs/frats/soros are bonafide members of the said groups, we will from time to time address the issue with the respective student and alumni officers concerned.
  • One current scheme works by having org members place their statuette orders thru their respective officers, whose org/soro/frat will then be entitled to commissions (as our partner group).

The Oblation Statuettes are reserved exclusively for UP Alumni, UP-affiliated organizations, and undergraduate UP students who have completed a minimum of 70 units. However, non-UP individuals may place an order if the statuette is intended as a gift for a UP alumni, such as a graduation present for a relative or friend. This exclusivity ensures that the tradition and honor embodied by the Oblation remains closely tied to the UP community.
